![]() ![]() ![]() I imagine the reason that he was chosen to be patron saint of our church was because our forebears wanted to maintain the link that Chingford had until recently with Essex, and indeed with its rural past as the very south-westerly point of East Anglia. However, in this Church, dedicated to St Edmund, we also take the last Sunday of the church’s year to remember an earthly king: St Edmund, King of East Anglia and a martyr of the faith.
